Encasa Deli (and tower defense)

So there’s this relatively new place that opened up in the city called Encasa Deli. I reckon it’s the little baby of the Encasa restaurant, which I’ve been to a few times. At first I didn’t actually go in as I wasn’t sure if they served food, and lunch breaks at work are too short (plus I eat super slow) for me to have investigated. However, I decided I had to go as I was getting more and more curious about the place. I love delis. It has a relatively small display cabinet full of stuff, but wow, olives, hams, sausages, cheese and fish! I really need to buy some stuff there. I’ve now bought their “Pa amb tomaquet” twice, which is basically a load of jamon slices on a tomato smeared baguette. That was sooooo delicious! I had to try it twice to make sure it wasn’t a once-off the first time.

In fact, I think I converted a work colleague as he went there and loved their Pepito, which was an eye fillet with egg and some other stuff. He said it was really good and also impressed that they served paella after 12pm. I should one day try some of that too! And maybe buy 2 slices of one of their jamons which sells for $346 per kilo or something. Oh, and also to see their mini-grocery place in the back.

In other news, I love tower defense games. They break my brain, and I bought Robo Defense for my phone too. Wheeeeeeeeee!

iiNode and the P

So today I found out that iiNet bought Internode, which now makes the iiNode machine. That was very exciting news indeed, and probably means a lot of changes to everything internet related and another attack from TPG prevented. Yaaaay!

Also, I ate two fruit mince pies today. I have a weird relationship with fruit mince pies. I don’t particularly like the flavour but I do enjoy them as they only come out once a year. The ones from Pattison’s Pattiserie are the best. Can’t remember what the ones from Baker’s Delight taste like, but the ones from Workshop Espresso are a little too dry for my liking (also they are $4), and the ones from Becasse in Westfield Sydney are too moist and large, becoming a rather overwhelming experience for me. Since the Pattison’s are only $2.50 and have just the right balance of fruit and jam for the perfect size and moistness, they are the most awesome :)

And there’s more P in the fact that I now have half a wardrobe full of Pilgrim clothes. I like that store, and Portmans for some reason. They have really pretty stuff and it gets way cheaper than RRP, though technically they’re still a little on the expensive side.

Galaxus Nexy

Hooray for the Galaxy Nexus!

Finally got released today, so I decided to visit the (apparently) single Telstra store to go check the price of one. I was thinking about buying it online as I was worried the outright price would have been over $900, but I got a mostly pleasant surprise when I found out it was actually much cheaper than that.

However, Telstra was quite fail, claiming they were incredibly busy that day –  when there seemed to be only one person “qualified”  to sell contracts to people. Everyone else was just a sales rep who couldn’t actually tell me how long the warranty on my phone is. I’ll quite safely assume it’s one year. There was another person there who was after the Galaxy Nexus, and had apparently been waiting for half an hour to get his hands on one. Eventually he was ushered off to a dark corner to sign his life away, but luckily the sales people realised all I wanted to do was buy it outright, not sign a contract, so they said I could line up and talk to a lady who could do the “simple”  things.

QUAY

Last night my brother, his friends and I went to Quay. Finally been to Quay! This post will probably contain some incoherent excitement, but whatever. Apart from needing to visit Rockpool, my eating life is complete…  almost.

I had been called in on short notice because a friend of my brother’s had pulled out, and no one else could fill the spot. So what if I was secretly hoping I could go! Muahahaha. It was definitely an awesome experience, what made it even more interesting and eye opening was the differences between Quay and Tetsuya’s, and even Rockpool Bar & Grill since they’re the only really super fancy places I’ve been to. So this might even have a little bit of comparing between the restaurants, just because.
